your perfect home in provence

Authentic place in the middle of a charming village

We stayed here with friends and some of the (grown up) kids for two weeks. I can only confirm the previous positive comments: this town house is really authentic in the middle of this lovely village. 10 steps away from the main canal with all its restaurants and shops and the buzzling Sunday market. Despite this central position, the house is very quiet. It has a furnished inner court and goes over three levels, the ground floor serving as the lobby. The house comprises all amenities we needed: two bathrooms with shower each, three bedrooms, a sunny roof terrace, a large kitchen with everything you may need for home cooking, and a big living room. Because of the steep and narrow stairs, this place cannot be recomended for people with disabilaties. It's also difficult to carry heavy and bulky luggage up and down. This has been correctly discribed on the home page. Parking is 5 walking minutes away. It's possible to load and unload your car in the (very narrow) alley in front of the house, but not on Sundays because of the market.

Beautiful home in a beautiful town.

This was a beautifully appointed house. We fully utilized the third floor outdoor patio as well as the ground floor outdoor area. The three bedrooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking as well as a FULL size fridge, washer & dryer and dishwasher. We really enjoyed all the space and I cant wait to come back.

Schöner Aufenthalt in L'Isle Sur La Sorgue

We couldn't have found a better place!

Three friends, with occasional guests, were here for two weeks. This was the perfect place for us. The house is charming, well located, and very clean and quiet. The photographs are all true. We were thrilled to find such a well equipped kitchen and were able have lovely meals at home. The weekly market has such tempting finds and there is a vegetable market and butcher just up the block. The location is great for day trips most places we wanted to go, although we did overnight in Arles. I, too, will put in a good word for Helliette, who very nicely came and explained to us Americans how to use the stove and washer and dryer. The owner has a secure parking spot just up the street which is invaluable. When I win the lottery I will be back and take la Marisol for the summer.

Perfect base in Provence

We stayed at La Marisol again for 2 weeks in June, 3 years after our previous visit - this time as 2 couples. Time has in no way dimmed the marvellous experience. This is not a 5 star hotel. Rather, a character-filled HOME with marvellous space and light, located a few paces from the heart of this beautiful, bustling town - with the grand-daddy of all Provencal markets every Sunday right on your doorstep. The kitchen is spectacular and equipped for the most exacting gourmet chef. L'isle makes a perfect base for exploration of virtually all of Provence - none of the major attractions, barring the Cote d'Azur are more than 2 hours of easy driving away. Additionally, it has the rare asset of a regular train and bus service to all of the main centres and the Avignon TGV. But that's all barely relevant as you are going to want to spend many of your hours cooking and dining in the kitchen or lovely cool courtyard. We'll be back. One small word of caution. This is a town home on 3 levels with 2 staircases - one spiral and quite narrow. Don't take large heavy suitcases (the washing machine and tumble dryer make extensive packing superfluous anyway) and perhaps look elsewhere if you are over 75.

“A Wonderful Provencal Townhouse”

”My husband and I stayed in this lovely home for a week in June. While we were anticipating La Marisol to be a good base for exploring the delights of Provence, given the pictures and reviews that we had seen prior to our arrival, it was certainly so much more. Although the house is situated in a really central location in this pretty town and convenient for restaurants and shops, it is also very quiet and peaceful.

The house itself is stylish yet comfortable and has all the amenities you would require during your stay. The size of the bedrooms at La Marisol is generous and would cater easily for 6 adults without the house feeling crowded and that doesn’t include the additional sofa bed in the salon! The Provencal style kitchen is well equipped with a large dining table, and is a bright and restful place to enjoy meals. The salon is spacious yet has a cosy atmosphere is which to relax. Outside, there is a good sized courtyard with plenty of outside furniture including table and chairs for outside dining, so ideal if you had a larger group and require an outside but private space to enjoy.

As for the location of L’isle Sur La Sorgue, a wonderful selection of individual and interesting shops and restaurants and easy access to some of the most beautiful villages of the region (such as Gordes, Rousillon, Menerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Chateauneuf du Pape to name but a few!). The hustle and bustle of market day in L’isle Sur La Sorgue is an amazing town event which is definitely something fascinating to experience on a Sunday morning when the whole place transforms into a lively feast for the eyes and senses! There is also a smaller market on Thursday too but Sunday has the “Wow!” factor. From the moment you begin to walk around the market stalls with the wonderful fragrance of lavender floating in the air along with handmade Provençal soaps and the sight of a huge variety of other interesting products from interesting arts and crafts to food and wine temptations or the fantastic array of home wares including beautiful good quality linens. It truly is worthwhile spending some time (and maybe a few euros) there on market day.

So, if you’re looking for a home with atmosphere but with modern and stylish comforts in a pretty accessible Provencal town with so much to offer then La Marisol is definitely somewhere you should consider, you would be mad not to!!

Perfect Ladies Getaway!!

If you're looking for a place to call home while on vacation this is the place for you.
I vacationed here for a week (wished it had been for longer) with 4 high school girlfriends, celebrating the last of us turning 60. We had an amazing time getting to know the town. La Marisol's location is perfect, within walking distance to all the restaurants and quaint shops along the river and down the narrow streets. We looked forward every morning to enjoying our croissants and coffee from the little bakery just around the corner from la Marisol. The streets are lively in the daytime and evenings, filled with friendly people walking about and we always felt safe here. (We did have a rental car and enjoyed daily outings, exploring nearby towns and their markets too.)

La Marisol is perfect in every way, as seen in it's website photos. The townhouse is well equipped with every convenience, including a dishwasher which you will definitely use after preparing gourmet meals in the spacious kitchen (should you choose to cook while on vacation!). The large harvest table in the kitchen is so welcoming to family style meals as well as the table and chairs on the back yard terrace. We enjoyed many bottles of local wine here on the terrace with cheeses, fresh fruit and baguettes purchased daily.

La Marisol is both comfortably and elegantly furnished in the traditional French style.
The two large living room areas on the main floor offer spaces for reading, relaxing or simply getting together in the evenings to reminisce of the day's activities.
The 3 bedrooms located on the upper floor have ample closet/storage space, the beds extremely comfortable with fresh white lines and cozy duvets. The 3 bathrooms have up to date furnishings, with countertop sinks, one with a walk in shower and another with a soaker tub/shower.

La Marisol definitely lived up to my expectations and beyond. I have already recommended to friends and family back here in Canada that if they are ever looking to travel to France, la Marisol is the perfect "home away from home". And if I get the opportunity I too will travel back to la Marisol. It was the perfect reunion spot for myself and 4 amazing friends.

Formidable!

“Why Monty, what a splendidly well-appointed residence this is for our summer sojourn to La Belle France! It has everything that the discerning woman abroad could hope for, including a fine collection of floor geckos without which no modern lifestyle is complete.”

Flo Mudshark, travelling woman and gecko connoisseur of some years standing, surveyed her surroundings delightedly, taking in the splendid rustic kitchen and the garden below, table and chairs seductively awaiting a luncheon of France’s finest.

“And how thoughtful of you to acquire lodgings for us which provide the opportunity for me to experience the particular culinary technique I have long pined after. For this kitchen has the one thing required for such an event, namely a three metre drop out the window. Plus all the other things required, in the form of the exotic cheeses , crusty bread and fine wines, readily obtainable from the handy nearby supermarket. Monty, load up the basket, attach that washing line which I was perspicacious enough to purchase along with our comestibles and chuck it out the window! Lunch is served!

“Are you sure -” enquired Jonquiletta suspiciously, knowing of old her Mother’s predilection for cheeses of a mature and occasionally mobile nature, “ - that it is safe?”

“As French cheeses go,” Flo reassured her, “it is not particularly dangerous.”

“You just bought it in the hope that it was. Try not to look so disappointed, Mother.”

“Oh, I am entirely undisappointed by this delightful corner of France and this exceptional dwelling place, Jonkers old girl! Cool and shady when a woman requires a little respite from the heat of the afternoon and the contents of the wine bottle, close enough to a goodly selection of bars and restaurants such that even a woman of my undeniable vintage has no problem staggering there and back. Ten out of ten - would visit again. In fact, would pack up all belongings, entirely renounce British citizenship, don a striped jersey and beret and learn how to say “Bof” with a shrug of the shoulders to imply just exactly the correct degree of existential disinterest! Vive la France!

Glorious Stay in L'Isle sur la Sorgue!

We stayed here for 9 wonderful nights and loved every minute! A beautiful, comfortable, clean, and large townhouse right in the old town, near the canal... BUT secluded in an inner courtyard, which made it quiet and comfortable for sleeping! The location is perfect! Right in the old town, filled with restaurants, shops, sights, bakeries, and a farmer's market right on the street next to the townhouse! All of the rooms are spacious, with 2 full bathrooms on the upper floor with the 3 bedrooms; and one room with toilet and sink on the main floor, along with a double living room and huge kitchen with huge bench dining table. We LOVED the kitchen, where we could make wonderful dishes from ingredients we bought at the farmer's market ( 20 feet from the gate of the property!). All of the appliances and tools we needed were there, with a large gas stovetop. A separate alcove in the kitchen housed the refrigerator/freezer and the washer and separate dryer. The couches are very comfortable, as was the bed. The city of L'Isle sur la Sorgue was such a good choice for our 9 day stay as it is packed with restaurants, specialty shops, antique shops (apparently known for the antique market and shops), wine shops and bars, canals and beautiful water features surrounding and all around the town. The city is BEAUTIFUL. We had a car and were able to park it easily at the parking spot that the owner makes available to renters. Such a bonus, otherwise parking would have been an ordeal. AND this area of Provence is close to other famous and beautiful little towns that were so much fun to visit. Our favorite was the very small town of Fontaine de Vaucluse, only 6 km away with the most magnificent origin of the Sorgue river. The clearest body of water we have ever seen! Great hiking and restaurants there.
